# SAIF.Business.Policy.Core overview

> **Documentation context:** Packaged Component (NuGet)

SAIF.Business.Policy.Core is the canonical policy aggregate library for the BOF policy stack. It models policy, policy-period, location, contact, status, and supporting code-table data while bridging to Oracle-backed premium, billing, governing-class, and logging behaviors.

## Purpose
- Provide the shared policy-core business-object model used by higher-level policy applications.
- Unify WCIS and legacy policy-period behavior behind one retrieval surface.
- Support masking-aware retrieval, BOF persistence, and Oracle procedure calls for policy-centric workflows.

## Responsibilities
- Retrieve and persist policy-core entities through BOF criteria lifecycles.
- Merge modern and legacy policy periods into a single timeline.
- Apply masking to sensitive policy, location, and contact fields when requested.
- Call Oracle procedures for premium, governing-class, billing, and logging behaviors.

## Key components
- `clsPolicy` and `clsPolicyCollection`: policy root retrieval and affiliation/account lookups.
- `clsPolicyPeriodBase` family: unified period retrieval across WCIS and non-WCIS data.
- `clsPolicyLocation`, `clsLocationContact`, `clsLocation`, `clsLocationType`: location and contact surfaces.
- `WCISInquiry`: shared scalar-query facade.
- `clsWCISInterfacer`: production-error logging bridge.
