clsAppControllerBase.WriteStatus

WriteStatus is a public enum nested inside clsAppControllerBase that gives consuming applications' controller classes a shared, tri-state vocabulary for reporting the outcome of a save/write operation, rather than each consuming controller inventing its own success/failure convention.

Purpose

  • Standardize how consuming controllers report the result of a save/delete/write attempt, so calling code and views can branch consistently on outcome.
  • Distinguish an explicit failure from a no-op (nothing changed) versus a successful write, which a plain boolean result could not express.

Context

  • Namespace: SAIF.Presentation.Web.Core
  • Assembly/package: SAIF.Presentation.Web.Core.Infragistics103 (merged into SAIF.BOF.Presentation.Web.Infragistics103 NuGet package)
  • Declaring type: clsAppControllerBase

Values

Value Underlying value Purpose
Failure -1 Indicates the write/save operation did not succeed.
NoChanges 0 Indicates the operation completed but no data was actually modified.
Successful 1 Indicates the write/save operation completed and persisted changes.

Behavioral notes

  • Declared as Public Enum WriteStatus As Integer, so the three members map to explicit negative/zero/positive integer values, allowing callers to test outcome sign (e.g. < 0 for any failure) if desired*.

Constraints and usage notes

  • Consuming application controllers deriving from clsAppControllerBase are expected to return this enum from their own save/write methods to report results consistently across the application.

Note: Statements marked with * were inferred from code structure, naming conventions, or contextual evidence where direct confirmation was not available in source artifacts. Statements marked with ** could not be confirmed; treat as unknown until verified.
