# HoverPicture

`HoverPicture` is the image-based hover trigger that opens a [HoverPanel](HoverPanel.md), and is the direct base class of [HoverHelp](HoverHelp.md). Unlike [HoverLabel](HoverLabel.md), it exposes a `Fill(text)` method for setting the popup's content programmatically and a configurable content panel width, making it the more general-purpose of the two simple triggers.

## Purpose
- Renders an image trigger (`ControlImageURL`) that opens an associated `HoverPanel` on hover.
- Provides `Fill(text)` so callers can set the popup's content text programmatically at runtime rather than only through markup. ([BR-AJAX-016](../../business-rules.md#br-ajax-016-hover-controls-render-nothing-when-there-is-no-content))
- Exposes `ContentPanelWidth` so the popup width can be tuned independently per instance.

## Behavioral notes
- `Fill` writes directly into the composed `HoverPanel`'s `ContentText`, so the same unencoded-rendering behavior applies to whatever text is passed in. ([BR-AJAX-015](../../business-rules.md#br-ajax-015-hover-content-is-written-unencoded))
- If no content has been set, the composed panel renders nothing, so an unfilled `HoverPicture` shows only its trigger image with no popup. ([BR-AJAX-016](../../business-rules.md#br-ajax-016-hover-controls-render-nothing-when-there-is-no-content))

## Constraints and usage notes
- Requires the AJAX Control Toolkit (`AjaxControlToolkit.dll`) at runtime, transitively through the composed `HoverPanel`.
- Callers passing user-influenced text to `Fill` should encode it themselves if it must not be treated as markup. ([BR-AJAX-015](../../business-rules.md#br-ajax-015-hover-content-is-written-unencoded))
