Any control implementing this interface — directly or through a `BindingContainer` that implements it — is walked during page-level binding and page-level validity checks ([BR-AJAX-002](../../business-rules.md#br-ajax-002-controls-join-automatic-binding-via-iautobindingcontrol-or-their-container)); [AutoBindControlAncestor](AutoBindControlAncestor.md) is the sole implementer in this library. ## Purpose - Defines the reflection-friendly two-way binding surface (`BindSource`, `BindProperty`, `RootBindingObject`, `BoundObject`) that `BindingManager` and `BindingUtility` operate against without a concrete type reference. - Defines the self-validating contract (`IsValid`, `ErrorMessages`, `Validate()`) that lets `BindingManager` aggregate page-level validity across heterogeneous controls. ([BR-AJAX-005](../../business-rules.md#br-ajax-005-reflection-failures-during-binding-are-suppressed)) - `Validate` is documented by the sole implementation ([AutoBindControlAncestor](AutoBindControlAncestor.md)) to always return `True` regardless of the control's actual validity, so callers must read `IsValid` separately rather than trust the return value.* ## Constraints and usage notes - A control that implements neither `iAutoBindingControl` directly nor exposes a `BindingContainer` that does is silently skipped by `BindingManager` — it participates in no automatic binding or validation.
