# SAIFWebDateTimeEdit

`SAIFWebDateTimeEdit` extends the Infragistics `WebDateTimeEdit` control so that the field clears itself when a user focuses it while displaying one of two sentinel dates (`01/01/1901` or `12/31/9999`) used elsewhere in the application to represent "no date entered." It has no public members beyond the inherited Infragistics surface; all of its added behavior is a single `Init`-time script registration that wires an `onfocus` handler.

## Purpose
- Prevent sentinel min/max dates from displaying as if they were real user-entered values by clearing the field on focus ([BR-CTL-012](../../business-rules.md#br-ctl-012-focusing-a-sentinel-date-clears-the-field), [BR-CTL-013](../../business-rules.md#br-ctl-013-mindate-and-maxdate-are-treated-as-null-dates)).

## Behavioral notes
- `SAIFWebDateTimeEdit_Init` (a private `Handles Me.Init` handler, not part of the public surface) registers the `SAIFWebDateTimeEdit_Focus` client function under the script key `SDTE_Focus` and adds an `onfocus` attribute invoking it with the control's `ClientID`; see [Suppress sentinel dates on focus](../../operations/suppress-sentinel-dates-on-focus.md) for the full step sequence.
- The guarded script registration is coded twice in succession in the source; the second registration attempt is unreachable in effect because the first satisfies the `IsClientScriptBlockRegistered` guard.*

## Constraints and usage notes
- Sentinel-date comparison is a literal string match against `01/01/1901` and `12/31/9999` as displayed text, so it depends on the control's active display format matching those exact strings.*
- Behavior depends on the Infragistics 11.1 client-side API (`igedit_getById`) and is version-locked to `Infragistics35.WebUI.WebDataInput.v11.1`.*
