# SAIF.SAIFCode.Core overview

> **Documentation context:** Packaged Component (NuGet)

SAIF.SAIFCode.Core (assembly `SAIF.Core`, project `Core/SAIF.Core/SAIF.SAIFCode.Core.csproj`) is the shared contracts and abstractions library of the SAIF solution: it defines DTOs, request/response objects, filter criteria, code enumerations, and the service interfaces that `SAIF.Services` implements, while containing no persistence, configuration, HTTP, or authorization-enforcement code of its own.

## Purpose
- Defines the shared data-transfer objects, filter/search criteria, and code enumerations used across the SAIF solution's functional areas — Claims (211 compiled files), Legal (69), Policies (58), Collections (43), Documents (40), and smaller areas including Agencies, Groups, Imaging, Providers, Rct, Security, Tasks, Edi, OnlineMessages, OnlineSupport, and Notifications.
- Declares roughly 145 service interfaces (for example `IBillService`, `IEbillingService`, `IClaimInformationService`, `IClaimSecurityService`, `IPolicySecurityService`, `ICertificateSecurityService`) that `SAIF.Services` implements.
- Declares EDI file contracts (`I837File`, `I835File`, `I277File`, `I999File`, `I837AckFile`) deriving from `IEdiFile`.
- Provides the `EnumerationBase<TCode,TEnumeration>` static dictionary-backed code/enum pairing pattern reused across code-enumeration types.
- Is consumed by `SAIF.Domain`, `SAIF.Services`, and `SAIF.Services.Web.Proxies`, which program against these contracts as DTOs and enumerations passed across layer boundaries.

## Responsibilities
- Declare DTOs, request/response objects, and filter/search criteria for the solution's functional areas.
- Declare the service interfaces implemented by `SAIF.Services`.
- Declare AD resource-name constants and security service interfaces/DTOs that `SAIF.Services` implements and enforces — see [Security and authorization](security-authorization.md).
- Provide small in-memory computations on contracts (bill status flags, claim alert lists, banner-text assembly) with no external side effects — see [Operations and processes](operations-processes.md).

## Key components
- `SAIF.Core.Contracts.*` (~90 namespaces): DTOs, request/response objects, filter criteria, and code enumerations.
- `SAIF.Core.Services`: `IClaimCustomRepoService`, `IPdfTrackingService`, `IDbConnectionService` — service abstractions with no implementation in this library.
- Security contracts and constants: `ClaimSecurityAccess`, `IClaimSecurityService`, `IPolicySecurityService`, `ICertificateSecurityService`, `IGroupImageSecurityProvider`, `ILegalSecurityOverrideService`, and four `SecurityRoles` classes — see [Security and authorization](security-authorization.md).
